![]() The scene where she is screaming and begging to be killed really disturbed me. In the new version he tries to kill her with a shovel but it doesn't work and she is in even more pain. In the original, he finds her eaten up by a dog and whacks her in the head with a shovel to end her misery. The part where one of the characters mercy-kills his friend is WAY more graphic and disturbing in this version. Usually I like horror movies that leave a lot to the imagination but in this case, the gore and blood worked. I found that the flesh eating virus was more graphic in the new version. I'm not sure if it's because they didn't linger on the leg long enough, or if it's because the skin started coming off in huge chunks making it almost comedic. The infamous leg-shaving scene wasn't as disturbing. In the new one the dog basically blows up in his face. I remember being disturbed when he goes to see his dog, lifts its leg, and the whole dog is gutted. The beginning scene in the original also had a better creep factor. The original "falling on the dead and diseased body in the water" was way better. In the new version, he is still alive towards the end and pulls one of the other characters into the water. In the original, the guy they accidentally set on fire was found dead in the river towards the end. Female version of Deputy Winston struck me as odd and not at all disturbing/scary. He seemed like the type of guy I wouldn't want to be alone with. I remember the male version in the original making me feel uncomfortable and skeeved out (as a woman). Here are some of my thoughts (spoiler alert):ĭeputy Winston as a woman just didn't work out. It's one of those movies where they did some stuff better than the original and some stuff worse. However, after about 30 minutes it grew on me. It started off rocky and seemed very low budget with bad acting. I didn't even know about the remake and it's weird that they felt the need to remake the 2002 version since it wasn't THAT long ago. Now, last night I saw that Netflix Canada had the 2016 remake. I actually had nightmares about it after I saw the movie. Although it was comedic in some parts and cheesy in others, I found it to be very scary because stuff like illness, flesh eating viruses, and parasites scares me to no end. The original Cabin Fever came out when I was 12 and I have watched it a bunch of times.
